CarSim Adds Euro NCAP AEB VRU Test Examples

Mechanical Simulation is proud to share a new 6-minute video demonstration on using CarSim to simulate Euro NCAP AEB VRU tests. This video introduces new Collision Detection-related examples, which exemplify some of the EURO NCAP Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) Vulnerable Road User (VRU) tests.  These simulation examples (new for CarSim 2020.1) are completed as specified in the Euro NCAP AEB VRU test and assessment protocols, and include the accompanying Euro NCAP scoring assessments of AEB performance.

These Euro NCAP AEB VRU examples include Car-to-Pedestrian Nearside Adult 25% (CPNA - 25) and Car-to-Pedestrian Nearside Child 50% (CPNC - 50) tests. CarSim also includes live test scoring to better understand the effectiveness of the AEB system performance, with respect to the Euro NCAP AEB VRU assessment protocol. The simulations make use of new options in CarSim to attach polygonal shapes to the vehicle and to the target objects, to better detect the point of contact in a collision, as required for the test scoring.
