As with past upgrades, the VehicleSim® products have significant new features. The 2020.0 version includes even more built-in support for electrified powertrains.
CarSim and TruckSim include parallel powertrain systems for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and
hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). The electric and hybrid electric systems work with all the existing
drive systems such as: FWD, RWD, AWD, and multi-axle drive systems. The hybrid/electric
system model also includes a power management control.
The BEV and HEV powertrain models now support multiple electric motors. A new option is added to specify an electric motor on each drive axle. For example, a four-wheel (2-axle) passenger car can have two electric motors, and a 5-axle truck is able to have five electric motors. The new option enables support of an electrified all-wheel-drive system without any mechanical connection between the front and rear axles (such a system is sometimes called e-AWD.) The torque distribution between the front and rear electric motors can be set by a user parameter or external command through Simulink, VS Commands, etc. All electric motors are involved in the battery state-of-charge calculation.
- Added ability to drive multiple axles with hybrid or pure electric drives.
- Added ability to mix hybrid and pure electric drive modes on the lead unit.
- Now possible to model “e-AWD”. Electronically controlled torque distributions.
Extending Temporary Licenses
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, everyone is having to adjust their work environments and routines. Many of our users have had to start working from home. This change in routine has led to many not having access to a license.
As part of our continued commitment to supporting our customers, upon request we will extend the 30-day trial we have previously provided to in-maintenance users.
In-maintenance users who would like to extend their temporary license should submit a technical support request using the Mechanical Simulation Support Center: Submit a tech support ticket
A Mechanical Simulation account is required to submit a ticket. If you do not already have one, you must register for one: Register for a Mechanical Simulation account
